My executive business coaching service, Sandbox Spaces, allows me to provide key business and leadership training to a variety of different industries – eye care, software, and financial investment organizations.  A complementary podcast series called Sandbox Stories has allowed me to interview and publish audio and video episodes that range from advisory “perspective” pieces to full-fledged, in-depth conversations with really interesting people who are making a difference in the lives of others.

I was co-founder of the largest private eye care practice in the Madison, WI, area – Isthmus Eye Care, which carries on today under the ownership of the associates that my partners and I brought in to become owners themselves.  My career path took a fantastic turn when a business partner and I started RevolutionEHR and worked to build from-scratch the most innovative and disruptive software platform in optometry.  After twelve years as CEO, I retired from that role in 2018.

My entire career is full of various volunteer roles for state, regional, and national optometry efforts.  I was honored to be chosen as the initial chair of the committee that founded and led the early years of the AOA’s InfantSEE™ program.  For that program and many state PR efforts, I’ve been proud to be a media spokesperson for the profession.  Today I am also serving my alma mater, the Illinois College of Optometry, as a member of the Board of Trustees.

I split time between our home base in Madison and our winter get-away in Orlando, where we can visit the Mouse any day and any time.  I’m an avid golfer and Peloton rider, and more than anything my wife, Cheryl, and I enjoy time with our three adult children and their spouses, significant others, and friends.  Our son is a professional golfer, our daughter is a mental health therapist, and our other daughter is a cosmetologist – all five of us having attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, true Badgers.  Oh – and we are deeply green fans of the Packers!

My personal slogan is “be great” through which I am to help others achieve their full potential.

Things I support and maybe you will too
